Why Scuola Italia

For children

Starting to learn in a new country is a big step. Children settle in faster when they can say “I don’t understand”, ask to join a game and follow a lesson.

For parents

Parents need words too: to talk with teachers and the school, understand a report card and help with homework.

Learning together

Short, playful lessons fit into any day, and parents can learn right alongside their children.

What’s inside the app

Everything below is already in the app today.

26-week practice path

Quizzes and matching games, week by week, from the first morning at school to “You are ready”. Stars unlock the next week.

School week, Monday to Friday

Conversation, grammar, reading, school subjects and writing: one short lesson for each day, for each age group.

Conversation practice

26 themes such as water, volcanoes, the Romans and dinosaurs. Three steps each week: playground talk, the topic, then writing, all spoken in Italian.

Curriculum map

A year-by-year map from the first year of primary school to the last year of middle school, organised around the Italian national guidelines.

Pronunciation

Tricky Italian sounds like gli, gn and sc. Tap, listen and say it back.

Questions

Who is it for?

For children aged 3–15 in Italy who are learning Italian, at an Italian school or in istruzione parentale, whether they have just arrived or need to catch up, and for their parents.

Which languages does it use?

The app teaches Italian. Menus and buttons come in 10 languages: English, Italian, Arabic, French, Spanish, Romanian, Ukrainian, Dutch, German and Portuguese. Some lessons already explain in all 10; the others explain in English for now, and more translations are on the way.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. It runs in the web browser on phones, tablets and computers, with nothing to install. The Italian voice uses your device’s built-in speech, so it can sound a little different on each device. On iPhone, check that silent mode is off.

Is my child’s data safe?

While you try it for free, your child’s name, stars and progress stay on your device, in the browser, and are not sent to us. With a family plan, progress will be saved safely in your parent account so you can use it on any device. This website uses no trackers.
